In my career I’ve driven a nuclear submarine as a US Navy officer, secured critical government computer systems, and made robots smarter. I've managed multi-million dollar projects, teams of Ph.Ds (though I only have a pair of Master degrees) and founded a couple of companies of my own. And the common thread I've discovered through all this is how crucial people skills are to achieving incredible technical results and pushing your career forward.
Now I want to help YOU solve the people puzzle so you can multiply your impact, accelerate your career, and bring your unique skills to the world.
Did you get into tech in the first place because you didn't want to deal with people? Have you discovered that strategy doesn't work in the long run?
Technology serves people. At some point (and maybe you've already hit it), if you can't work with people, your career will stall completely.
I have identified five core people skills that give outsized bang for the buck to both individual contributors and early managers. You don't even have to master these skills. Even a modest improvement will put you far ahead of the pack.
If you incorporate these skills into your professional repertoire, you will stand out from your peers. You'll be able to:
Deliver greater technical impact through stronger collaboration
Clearly communicate your value to the organization
Build a robust network for career stability
Gain influence over the type of work you do
And if you ever (gulp!) step into management, you’ll not only handle the people puzzle with confidence, you’ll shine compared to the legions of early managers still struggling
As a socially awkward introvert, I spent much of my career as a wallflower—watching, listening, making stellar technical contributions, but holding back. Sound familiar? A few years ago, everything changed. I stepped out of my shell, started putting myself out there, and my career went to warp speed. New doors opened, and I discovered the power of showing up fully as myself.
Today, I’m passionate about helping others do the same. Book your Exploration Session with me, and let's chart a course to make you a powerhouse in your technical career.
